Air conditioner fan not working

The capacitor is attached to the compressor by electrical leads. If the capacitor burns out, the fan won’t run. To determine whether the capacitor is burned out, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the capacitor does not have continuity, replace it.

Central Air Conditioner Condensing unit does not run

The capacitor for the condenser fan motor and compressor might be at fault. If the run capacitor is defective, the fan motor might be noisy, overheat, or not run at all. To determine if the capacitor has failed, inspect the capacitor. If the capacitor is bulging or leaking, replace it.

Central air conditioner not blowing enough

The capacitor provides voltage to the fan motor. If the capacitor is defective, the fan motor may not run resulting in the central air system not blowing enough. To determine if the capacitor has failed, test the capacitor with a multimeter. If the capacitor is unable to hold and release a charge or is bulging or leaking, replace it.

Central air conditioner coil icing up

If the capacitor is defective, the blower fan motor may fail to run which could result in the evaporator coil icing up. To determine if the capacitor has failed, test the capacitor with a multimeter. If the capacitor is unable to hold and release a charge or is bulging or leaking, replace it.

Central air conditioner compressor won't run

The capacitor provides voltage to the compressor to start it. If the capacitor is defective, the compressor won't run. To determine if the capacitor has failed, test the capacitor with a multimeter. If the capacitor is unable to hold and release a charge or is bulging or leaking, replace it.
