The control board regulates the power supply to all of the components of the furnace or air handler. If the control board is defective, it might not send voltage to the blower motor.

Air handler blower runs all the time

The control board has relays that regulate the voltage to each component in the furnace or air handler. If the relay that controls the blower motor fails while it is closed, it will send continuous voltage to the blower motor, causing the motor to run continuously. If the control board is at fault, replace it.

Air handler not heating

The control board regulates the power supply to all of the components of the furnace or air handler. If the control board fails, it might not send voltage to the ignition system, causing the unit not to heat.

Air handler has a burning smell

The control board regulates the power supply to all of the components of the air handler. If a component on the  control board fails it can produce a burning smell. If the control board is burnt it will need to be replaced.
