If the switch has continuity both before and after the switch has been actuated, it has shorted closed and will need to be replaced.

A refrigerator door switch is used to turn on the interior lights when a door is opened and to ensure the door with a water and ice dispenser is closed before dispensing ice. If the switch is defective, it may signal to the control that a door is open even when it is fully closed resulting in a beeping alarm sound.
