Radiant Surface Element. This is a brand new genuine LG OEM part

The most common cause when the surface element won't work is the radiant surface element itself. The radiant surface element - or heating element - can burn out similar to a light bulb. If the surface element won't work and it doesn't have continuity, it will need to be replaced. The radiant surface element is not repairable. 

Electric stove burner won't turn off

Sometimes, when the surface element is shorted out, it is visibly damaged. Inspect the surface element for damage. If the element is damaged, replace it. To determine if the element has shorted out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity between the prongs and the case. If the radiant surface element shows continuity between the prongs and the case, this indicates that it is shorted out. If the radiant surface element is shorted out, replace it.

Range display board not working

If some of the range's main display is still working, but the surface element "hot" indicator light does not, it's likely a radiant surface element is defective. You can use a multimeter to test the radiant element for electrial continuity to help determine if the part is faulty.

Stove turns off on its own

If the stove surface element does not start working again when the surface element switch or control is turned off and back on or to a different heat setting, it's likely the radiant surface element itself is defective and should be replaced. You can use a multimeter to test the element for electrical continuity to confirm the diagnosis.

Electric stove burner temperature is erratic

The most common cause of a radiant surface element heating erratically is the surface element itself. The radiant surface element - or heating element - can burn out similar to a light bulb. If the surface element only works intermittently, try testing it with a multimeter for electrical continuity. If the element does not have continuity or only intermittent continuity, replace it. The radiant surface element is not repairable.

Broiler pan The broiler pan that comes with most range/ovens is porcelain-coated steel. Clean it with a non-abrasive cleanser. If you want to replace the broiler pan instead, we offer one called the Broiler Pan and Insert. Control panel Most range/oven control panels are glass and/or painted metal. You can safely use non-abrasive cleaners on these surfaces. We offer a wide selection of range/stove/oven cleaner and deodorizer parts. Note: Never spray cleaners directly onto the control panel. Instead, put some cleaner on a soft, damp rag, then wipe the surface. Cooktop: You can clean any porcelain cooktop with a non-abrasive cleanser. Note: Don't pour the cleanser directly onto the cooktop. Instead, put some cleaner on a soft, damp rag, then wipe the surface. Burner drip pans (bowls): You usually need to replace the drip pans or bowls beneath the grates on a gas stove/range and beneath the heating element on an electric stove/range every 2 to 3 years. But, if the numbers or lettering have worn away, you may need to replace the knobs. Light bulbs: You can replace the light bulb(s) in your range/oven, though you may need to remove a glass covering or dome to reach it. Most interior oven lights require a universal 40 watt appliance bulb. Oven: If your oven is self-cleaning, consult the owner's manual for instructions on how to use this feature. The self-cleaning feature works by heating the interior of the oven to a temperature so hot that it incinerates the residue inside the oven. Normally, it is not a good idea to clean the interior of a self-cleaning oven with a spray cleaner; however, refer to your owner's manual or contact the manufacturer of your oven for further information. To clean a non-self-cleaning oven, use one of the many oven cleaners that are available at grocery and hardware stores. Solid burner element: Some stove/ranges have heating element burners that are solid metal--there's no coil, and the stove/range isn't glass or ceramic.
