Freezer not freezing

The user control and display board might be defective. However, this is rarely the case. Control boards are often misdiagnosed—before replacing the control and display board, make sure you check more commonly defective parts. If you determine that all of the other components are working properly, replace the user control and display board.

Freezer runs all the time

A short in the user control and display board could be responsible for the freezer running all the time, although this is rarely the case. Control boards are often misdiagnosed—before replacing the user control and display board, make sure you check more commonly defective parts. If you determine that all of the other components are working properly, replace the user control and display board.

Freezer defrost drain frozen

A frozen freezer defrost drain can be caused by the freezer temperature being too cold. If the temperature is significantly below 0° Fahrenheit and the freezer's thermistor shows appropriate resistance changes when tested with a multimeter, it's possible the user control and display board is faulty and unable to regulate the cooling circuit.

Freezer indicator light is out

The user control and display board might be defective. However, this is rarely the case. First, check the indicator light to determine if it is burned out. If the indicator light is not burned out, but the light still doesn’t work, the user control and display board might need to be replaced.

Freezer buttons not working

If the control display is lit but the buttons will not work or the display is dead, yet you've determined power is reaching the freezer, the user control and display board is likely bad and will need to be replaced.

Freezer not Defrosting/Ice Buildup

On some models the user control and display board may also control the defrost system. Control boards are frequently misdiagnosed—before replacing the user control and display board, first test all of the defrost system components. If none of the defrost system components are defective, consider replacing the user control and display board.
