Washer is making loud noise

A wash plate is used on some top-load washers to agitate the laundry during the wash cycle. If the wash plate is damaged or stripped, it may make a loud noise when moving. Inspect the wash plate for damage and the threads for wear and replace if required.

Washer won't agitate

If the washing machine will not agitate correctly the washplate might be damaged and stripped off the drive shaft. The agitator can be removed to check out the washplate connection point. 

Washer damaging clothes

A broken washplate can damage clothing during both the agitation and spin cycles. Inspect the washplate for cracks, breaks, or jagged edges, and replace the damaged component if necessary.
