Grinding Disc with Blades
Keep your InSinkErator PRO77 garbage disposal running smoothly with genuine OEM replacement parts from Repair Clinic. The InSinkErator PRO77 is a 3/4 horsepower continuous feed garbage disposal designed for heavier residential use than the Badger 5 at 1/2 horsepower. The PRO77’s higher motor power allows it to handle tougher food waste without jamming as frequently as lower-horsepower models. The sink flange assembly, splash guard, and mounting hardware are the most frequently serviced external components. Repair Clinic stocks genuine InSinkErator OEM parts for the PRO77 including the InSinkErator splash guard parts and InSinkErator seal parts. The InSinkErator PRO77 is a 3/4 horsepower continuous feed disposal, a step up from the 1/2 horsepower Badger 5. The three common service presentations are the same on the PRO77: a humming unit that does not grind indicates a jammed impeller; a unit that trips its reset button repeatedly indicates a motor overload; and a unit that leaks from the bottom indicates a failed upper bearing seal requiring complete disposal replacement. The garbage disposal repair help section covers PRO77 jam clearing, reset procedures, and mounting hardware replacement.
The sink flange assembly mounts the disposal to the kitchen sink drain opening. A flange leaking water at the sink mounting point has a failed plumber’s putty seal or a cracked flange ring. Replace the complete sink flange assembly when the flange ring is cracked or the mounting tabs have broken off.
The splash guard fits into the top of the disposal grinding chamber and prevents food waste and water from splashing back out of the drain opening during operation. A torn or stiff splash guard allows odor and occasional water to escape the grinding chamber.
The mounting hardware connects the disposal body to the sink flange assembly using a twist-lock mounting ring. A mounting ring that is cracked or will not hold the disposal securely must be replaced before the disposal can be reinstalled safely.
The drain elbow connects the disposal outlet to the sink P-trap. A drain elbow that leaks at the disposal connection point has a failed compression gasket or a cracked elbow. Replace the drain elbow with its gasket as a set when leakage is confirmed at the disposal outlet.
The InSinkErator PRO77 is a 3/4 horsepower continuous feed garbage disposal while the Badger 5 is a 1/2 horsepower model. The PRO77’s higher motor power provides greater torque for handling tougher food waste.
A humming PRO77 that does not grind has a jammed impeller plate. Insert a 1/4-inch Allen wrench into the socket at the center bottom of the disposal and work it back and forth to free the jammed impeller.
A PRO77 leaking from the bottom has a failed internal upper bearing seal. This seal is not field-serviceable and the disposal must be replaced as a complete unit.
Press the red reset button at the center bottom of the disposal. If the button does not stay in when pressed, the disposal has not cooled sufficiently. Wait 10 minutes before pressing again.
