The Broan 41000-L is a non-ducted range hood using both a metal grease filter and a charcoal odor filter, since recirculated air is not vented outside. Unlike the reusable grease filter, the charcoal filter is a consumable component that cannot be cleaned and must be replaced periodically as it becomes saturated with absorbed odors.
The charcoal filter absorbs cooking odors in non-ducted operation and cannot be cleaned or restored. Replace every six months under normal use, or more frequently with heavy daily cooking.
A motor running noisily or producing reduced airflow at its rated speed has worn bearings. Replace the motor assembly before bearing seizure damages the housing.
Clean the metal mesh grease filter monthly in a dishwasher or with hot soapy water. Replace when the mesh is deformed or corroded beyond effective cleaning.
Range hood light bulbs are exposed to heat and grease vapor that shortens bulb life. Use the bulb type specified on the socket label.
The Broan 41000-L is a non-ducted range hood from Broan’s 41000 series, designed to mount under a kitchen cabinet above a range. A non-ducted range hood recirculates filtered air back into the kitchen rather than venting it outside, using a charcoal filter to absorb odors in addition to the standard grease filter.
Reduced odor removal on a non-ducted range hood is most commonly caused by a saturated charcoal filter that can no longer absorb odors. Unlike grease filters, charcoal filters cannot be cleaned and must be replaced periodically.
Replace the charcoal filter every six months under normal cooking use, or more frequently with heavy daily cooking. The charcoal filter is a consumable component that cannot be cleaned and restored like the metal grease filter.
Turn off power at the breaker. Remove the grease filter and any mounting screws securing the motor housing, disconnect the motor wiring, and slide out the old motor. Install the replacement motor in reverse order.
