All of the information in this carburetor replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Homelite
Tools used: multi-screwdriver, T25 Torx screwdriver, flat-head bit, T20 Torx screwdriver, needle-nose pliers
Step-By-Step Instructions1
Before you replace the carburetor on your chainsaw first make sure the engine has cooled and that the on-off switch is in the “off” position.
2
We recommend performing this procedure with little or no fuel in the tank.
3
Now use a t-25 torx bit screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the top cover.
4
Pull the cover off – this may require some effort.
5
Now, detach the carburetor fuel line from the primer bulb – be prepared for some fuel to spill.
6
Next, unhook the choke lever.
7
Use a t-20 torx bit screwdriver to remove the carburetor mounting bolts.
8
Lift out the air filter housing and separation plate.
9
Detach the fuel tank return line from the carburetor.
10
Note the location of the throttle linkage and detach the old carburetor.
11
Prepare the new carburetor for installation by transferring the fuel line from the old carburetor to the new one.
12
Now connect the throttle linkage to the appropriate hole in the throttle arm and attach the fuel tank return line.
13
Align the separation plate on the air filter housing and insert the right mounting bolt.
14
Position the housing and plate on the new carburetor fully align the assembly and thread the bolt loosely.
15
Now insert the left mounting bolt through the bracket, slide the washer on then thread and tighten both bolts.
16
Reposition the choke lever.
17
Reattach the carburetor fuel line to the primer bulb.
19
Rethread the screws to secure.
20
With the repair completed turn the on-off switch to the “on” position and fill the tank with fuel.
21
Be aware you may need to adjust the idle setting on the new carburetor before your chainsaw will be ready for use.
