Step-By-Step Instructions1
Before you replace the freezer light socket in your refrigerator unplug the power cord.
2
To make it easier to access the light socket, we recommend removing both the freezer drawer and rack.
3
To do this, first lift out the bin.
4
Now use a large flat-head screwdriver to depress the retaining tabs securing both drawer rail assemblies then pull the entire drawer assembly out.
5
Next, use a quarter-inch socket or nut driver to unthread the screws securing the left and right side rack support rails.
6
Now use a flat-head screwdriver to depress the retaining tabs to release the left and right gear support brackets.
7
Lift the rails up and you can remove the rack from the freezer compartment.
8
Next, unthread the light bulb.
9
Pull the socket down to detach it and disconnect the wires.
10
Install the new freezer light socket by first connecting the wires to the appropriate terminals.
11
Now align the socket tab in the housing and snap the socket into place.
12
Thread the bulb into the new socket.
13
Realign the rack on the support rails.
14
Push the support rails down and snap the gear support brackets into place.
15
Rethread and tighten the screws to secure the support rails.
16
Reinstall the drawer assembly by aligning the slides on the rails then push the drawer forward.
17
Now snap both slides into place to secure the drawer assembly.
19
With the repair completed, plug the power cord back in and confirm that the new light socket works properly.
