Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Level Arm Replacement #W10378254

03:01
This video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the ice level arm on Whirlpool refrigerators. The most common reason for replacing the ice level arm is if it is broken or stuck, causing the ice maker to keep making ice even when the ice bucket is full or to not make ice at all.

All of the information in this ice level arm replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag

Tools used: small flat-head screwdriver

Step By Step Instructions

1
Before you replace the ice level arm on your ice maker unplug the power cord.
2
To make it easier to access the arm, we recommend removing the ice maker assembly from the freezer compartment.
3
To do this, depress the release button and pull out the ice bin.
4
Insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the side cover access hole and press down to release the locking lever then pull the side cover forward to remove.
5
Use the screwdriver to depress the retaining tab to release the ice maker assembly.
6
Pull the assembly forward.
7
Disconnect the wire harness and remove the entire assembly.
8
You can now detach the old arm from the ice maker if still intact.
9
Prepare the new ice level arm for installation by transferring the arm extension blade from the old arm to the new one.
10
With the blade in place, attach the new arm to the ice maker.
11
Reinstall the ice maker assembly by sliding it part way into the housing.
12
Reconnect the wire harness and push the assembly all the way back - be aware the ice maker fill spout may make this difficult.
13
Realign the side cover and slide it into place.
14
Realign the ice bin on the track and snap it into position.
15
With the repair completed, plug the power cord back in and your ice maker should be ready for use.
