This video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the ice maker blower wheel on Whirlpool refrigerators. The most common reason for replacing the blower wheel is if it is jammed, causing the refrigerator to be warm and the ice maker to not produce ice.

All of the information in this blower wheel replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn Air, Kenmore, Amana, Dacor

Tools needed: small flat-head screwdriver, flat-head screwdriver

Step By Step Instructions

1
Before you replace the blower wheel in your refrigerator ice maker unplug the power cord.
2
Open both refrigerator doors.
3
Depress the release button and pull out the ice bin.
4
Insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the side cover access hole and press down to release the locking lever then pull the side cover forward to remove.
5
Use the screwdriver to depress the retaining tab to release the ice maker assembly.
6
Pull the assembly forward.
7
Disconnect the wire harness and remove the entire assembly.
8
Use a flat-head screwdriver to depress the tabs to release the blower housing.
9
Disconnect the wire harness to fully remove the housing.
10
Depress the tabs to release the blower housing cover.
11
Now use the screwdriver to help pry the old blower wheel off.
12
Install the new fan motor blower wheel by sliding it onto the motor shaft, allowing a 1/8th inch gap between the housing and the fan blade.
13
Realign the cover and snap it into position.
14
Reinstall the blower housing by first reconnecting the wire harness then snap the housing into place.
15
Reinstall the ice maker assembly by sliding it part way into the housing.
16
Reconnect the wire harness and push the assembly all the way back - be aware the ice maker fill spout may make this difficult.
17
Realign the side cover and slide it into place.
18
Realign the ice bin on the track and snap it into position.
19
With the repair completed, plug the power cord back in and your ice maker should be ready for use.
