To make replacing the power cord on your dishwasher easier, we recommend uninstalling the dishwasher from the cabinet.
6
To do this, first unplug the old power cord from the cabinet outlet…
7
…and shut off the water supply valve.
8
Use a quarter-inch nut driver or a phillips-head screwdriver to unthread the mounting screws securing the lower access panels.
9
Remove the outer panel along with the inner panel and the attached insulation.
10
Use channel-lock pliers to unthread the water supply line elbow fitting from the inlet valve…be prepared for some water to spill.
11
Next, disconnect the drain hose from the sink drain or garbage disposer…
12
…and feed it through the cabinet.
13
Open the dishwasher door…
14
…and remove the mounting bracket screws.
15
To move the dishwasher, you may need to adjust the legs to lower the appliance.
16
Very carefully pull the dishwasher away from the cabinet.
17
Use a quarter-inch socket or nut driver to unthread the screw to release the terminal box from the right support rail.
19
…and untwist the wire nuts to disconnect the wires.
20
Loosen or remove the screw to release the grounding wire.
21
Now use a flathead screwdriver to help loosen the strain relief nut…then unthread the nut.
22
Detach the strain relief from the terminal box…and remove the old cord.
23
Prepare the new power cord for installation…
24
…by first sliding on the provided strain relief…leaving approximately a quarter inch of insulation extending past the relief.
25
Tighten the screws to secure.
26
Insert the strain relief into the terminal box…
27
…then slide on the nut and thread and tighten the nut to secure.
28
Join the black wires together and secure them with a wire nut.
29
Secure the white wires in the same way.
30
Position the new grounding wire and secure it with the screw.
31
With the wires positioned inside the terminal box, realign the cover.
32
Reposition the box on the right support and secure it with the screw.
33
Reposition the insulation blanket on the dishwasher if necessary.
34
Route the new power cord under the dishwasher…and through the hole in the cabinet.
35
Make sure the end of the drain hose is accessible through the cabinet wall as well…
36
… then gently slide the dishwasher back into the cabinet.
37
Adjust the leveling legs if necessary.
38
Replace the screws to secure the mounting brackets to the cabinet or countertop.
39
Feed the drain hose through the cabinet…
40
…and connect it to the sink drain or disposer.
41
Make sure the hose is elevated above the connection point.
42
Reconnect the water supply line elbow fitting to the inlet valve.
43
Reposition the inner access panel and insulation…followed by the outer panel.
44
Rethread and tighten the screws to secure.
45
With the repair completed, turn the water supply back on…
46
…plug the new power cord into the outlet…
47
…and your dishwasher should be ready for use.
