Tools needed: needle-nose pliers

To replace a gas valve shaft seal on your gas downdraft cooktop, first remove the appropriate control knob.

You can now use needle-nose pliers to pull off the old seal if still intact.

Install the new seal by aligning it on the shaft then use the pliers to gently push the seal downward.

Realign the control knob on the switch stem and push it into place.
