5
Be sure to unplug the power cord.
7
Shut off the gas supply.
8
Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to partially unthread the long screws securing the cooktop to the underside of the countertop.
9
You will now need to remove the main top ? be aware, if the cut-out space in the countertop is too large to support the cooktop base with the top removed, you will need to partially uninstall the appliance.
10
To do this, fully unthread the long screws from the clamping brackets.
11
Use a quarter-inch socket or nut driver to loosen the adjustment screws securing the brackets.
12
Rotate the brackets inward, then tighten the screws.
14
Detach the venting from the blower.
16
Now carefully lift off the three grates as well of the vent grille.
17
Remove all of the burner caps and the burner bases.
18
Remove all of the control knobs.
19
You can use string or wire to help pull them off of the valve shafts.
21
Have an assistant help you to lift the appliance up and use two pieces of wood to support the cooktop base above the countertop.
22
Now use a Phillips-head screwdriver to unthread all of the screws securing the orifice holders to the main top.
23
Unthread the screw holding the main top to the blower switch mounting bracket.
25
With the screws unthreaded, you can lift off the top.
26
Prop the cooktop base up high enough to unthread the gas supply line from the pressure regulator.
27
Use an adjustable wrench and channel-lock pliers to help unthread the supply line
28
Now unthread the regulator from the gas supply fitting.
29
Use the adjustable wrench to help unthread the nut securing the main gas supply line and fitting to the manifold.
30
Use the Phillips-head screwdriver or a quarter-inch nut driver to unthread the two screws securing the fitting to the base and you can remove the old component.
31
Install the new gas supply fitting by first inserting the threaded end through the hole in the base.
32
Secure it with the two screws.
33
Insert the opposite end into the manifold then thread and tighten the nut.
34
Apply new pipe-joint compound to the threads of the new gas supply fitting.
35
With the arrow pointing up toward the bottom of the cooktop base, thread the pressure regulator onto the fitting.
36
The regulator access cap should be facing forward.
37
Reattach the gas supply line to the regulator.
38
Wrench-tighten the connection, but avoid over-tightening.
39
Remove the support, then realign the main top on the base so the surface igniters protrude through the holes in the top.
40
Confirm that the orifice holders are aligned, then thread and tighten the screws to secure the holders to the top.
41
Replace the screw securing the main top to the blower switch mounting bracket.
42
Remove the wood supports and center the cooktop in the cut-out space of the countertop.
43
Replace the control knobs by aligning them on the valve shafts and pushing them into place.
44
Align each burner base with the appropriate orifice holder so the spark igniter is positioned in the notch on the side of the base.
45
Position the burner caps on the bases.
46
Realign the three burner grates along with the vent grille.
47
If applicable, loosen the two adjustment screws and rotate the clamping brackets outward, then tighten the screws.
48
Thread one of the clamping screws through the outermost hole in the bracket.
49
Tighten the screw against the underside of the countertop.
51
Repeat for the opposite side to fully secure the cooktop.
52
Reattach the venting to the blower.
53
Now open the gas shut-off valve and test the connections by applying a non-corrosive leak-detection solution.
54
The solution will bubble is there is a leak.
55
Once you?ve confirmed the connections are secure and leak-free, plug the power cord back in and your gas downdraft cooktop should be ready for use.
