Step-By-Step Instructions1
Before you begin the repair, make sure the engine has cooled.
2
Remove the wire and boot from the spark plug and perform the procedure with little or no gasoline in the tank.
3
Your first step is to remove the two nuts securing the gas tank.
4
Next, adjust the throttle as necessary to access the tank's mounting bolt and remove it.
5
Now, lift the gas tank upward, release the clamp securing the fuel line, and pull the fuel line off of the tank.
6
Be aware, some gasoline may spill out.
7
After placing the tank on a sturdy surface, use a deep well socket to remove the fuel filter.
8
Use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the old o-ring if still intact.
9
Install the new o-ring by positioning it onto the fuel filter.
10
Now, thread the filter into the gas tank and secure it with the socket.
11
Be careful not to over-tighten or damage the filter.
12
Reconnect the fuel line to the gas tank and secure the clamp.
13
Using locking pliers to support the line will make this step easier.
14
If applicable, remove the locking pliers, then reposition the gas tank.
15
Replace the mounting bolt and nuts.
16
With the repair complete, reattach the spark plug wire and boot.
