Step-By-Step Instructions1
To replace a washer lid hinge bearing in your frigidaire laundry center…
2
… you will need a putty knife, a phillips-head screwdriver, a socket extension, and a mallet.
3
Before you begin the procedure, unplug the power cord.
4
Use the putty knife to release the two retaining clips securing the washer’s main top.
5
Lift up the top and disconnect the lid lock assembly wire connecter.
6
You can now fully remove the main top…
7
…and set it upside down on a towel or blanket.
8
Since we recommend replacing both hinge bearings at the same time…
9
… release the tension on the lid springs then detach both springs from the main top and hinge bars.
10
Use the phillips-head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing both hinge bars to the lid.
11
Push the hinge bars through the bearings then twist the bars to remove.
12
Removing the hinge bars will fully separate the lid from the main top.
13
You can now use the socket extension and mallet to knock out the old bearings
14
To install one or both hinge bearings…
15
… snap the bearing into place from the inside of the main top.
16
With the bearings in place, realign the lid on the main top.
17
Insert an appropriate hinge bar through the hole in the lid and bearing.
18
Twist until the bar sits flush against the inside edge of the lid.
19
Thread the screws to secure.
20
Repeat for the opposite side.
21
Reattach the shorter ends of the lid springs to the hinge bar… and the longer ends to the main top.
22
Returning to the appliance…
23
… reinstall the main top by first reconnecting the lid lock assembly wire connecter.
24
Secure the wire in the retaining clip.
25
Now slide the rear of the main top under the rear retaining clips…
26
… then realign the main top and push down to snap it into position.
27
Plug the power cord back in…
28
… and your laundry center should be ready for use.
