Step-By-Step Instructions1
To replace the outer door panel on this kitchenaid dishwasher, you will need a t-15 torx bit and needle-nose pliers.
2
Before you begin the procedure, turn off the power to the dishwasher.
3
Open the dishwasher door, and use the t-15 torx bit to unthread the eight side screws and the top right screw holding the inner and outer door panels together.
4
Unthread the top right door latch screw last.
5
With the screws unthreaded, you can lift the outer door panel up to detach.
6
Disconnect the user interface wire connecter and detach the wire retainer to fully remove the panel.
7
Using the t-15 torx bit, unthread the two screws to release the user interface cover.
8
Next, unthread the two screws securing the door handle.
9
With the screws unthreaded, remove the handle.
10
Now unthread the three screws to release the console cap.
11
To help remove the three cap barrel nuts, partially rethread the screws then use the needle-nose pliers to pry the nuts out.
12
Now bend the retaining tabs outward and fully remove the insulation.
13
You’re now ready to install the new outer door panel.
14
If necessary, transfer the foam gasket from the old door vent to the new one.
15
Align the insulation and bend back the retaining tabs to secure.
16
Push the three cap barrel nuts into place under the panel tabs.
17
Position the console cap and thread the three screws to secure.
18
Align the door handle and secure it with the two screws.
19
Position the user interface cover and secure it with the screws.
20
Now install the new outer door panel by first connecting the user interface wire connecter and securing the wire retainer.
21
Make sure the console seal is in place, then slide the side edges of the outer panel behind the retaining brackets, then lift the panel up to join it with the inner door panel.
22
Rethread the screws to secure.
23
The top right door latch screw should be threaded first.
24
That screw and the two upper side screws are longer than the six remaining side screws.
25
With all the screws secured, turn the power supply back on, and the dishwasher should be ready for use.
