Step-By-Step Instructions1
To replace an overfill funnel in this kitchenaid dishwasher, you will need a 5/16th inch nut driver, a quarter-inch nut driver, a phillips-head screwdriver, a small flat-head screwdriver, needle-nose pliers, and, potentially, an adjustable wrench.
2
Before you begin the procedure, turn off the power to the dishwasher.
3
Shut off the water supply valve.
4
If necessary to provide more slack, use the adjustable wrench to unthread the water supply line from the valve – be prepared for some water to spill.
5
Disconnect the drain hose from the sink drain or garbage disposer, and feed it through the cabinet.
6
Use the 5/16th inch nut driver to unthread the two screws securing the lower access panel and toe panel to the frame.
7
With the screws unthreaded, you can set the panels aside.
8
Pull out the remaining insulation.
9
Use the quarter-inch nut driver to unthread the screw securing the junction box cover.
11
Using the phillips-head screwdriver, unthread the screws to release the black and white power wires from the right side of the terminal block.
12
Unthread the screw to release the grounding wire as well.
13
Now depress the retaining tab and slide the junction box to the left to detach it from the support bar.
14
Use the needle-nose pliers to help unthread the strain relief nut.
15
Pull the power line through the junction box.
16
Hook the junction box back on the support bar to keep it out of the way.
17
Next, open the dishwasher door and unthread the two screws securing the dishwasher mounting brackets to the cabinet or countertop.
18
To move the dishwasher, you may need to thread the legs further into the base to lower the appliance.
19
Now gently pull the dishwasher away from the cabinet, then tip the appliace back so it rests on its rear panel.
20
Depress the side retaining clips so you can detach the drip tray, then release the tabs to detach the float switch from the tray so you can set the tray aside.
21
If replacing the right overfill funnel, use the small flat-head screwdriver to depress the retaining tab securing the junction box so you can slide the box out of the way.
22
Now, using the 5/16th inch nut driver, unthread the two lower screws securing the base to the right door hinge.
23
Use the small flat-head screwdriver to pry the retaining tab up to detach the old overfill funnel.
24
To prepare the new overfill funnel for installation, transfer the overill tube from the old funnel to the new one.
25
Now position the new assembly above the base and snap it into place.
26
Reposition the base then rethread the screws to secure the base to the right door hinge.
27
Realign the junction box by snapping it into position on the retaining tab.
28
If replacing the left overfill funnel, depress the tab to release the water inlet valve bracket and move the bracket out of the way.
29
Detach the water meter section of the water inlet assembly from the base.
30
Now, using the 5/16th inch nut driver, unthread the two lower screws securing the base to the left door hinge.
31
You can now replace the left overfill funnel in the same manner as the right funnel.
32
With the new funnel in place, reposition the base and rethread the screws to secure it to the hinge.
33
Snap the meter section of the water inlet assembly into place on the base.
34
Resecure the water inlet valve bracket by sliding it to the left and snapping it into place on the retaining tab.
35
Snap the float switch into place on the drip tray, then realign the drip tray and snap it into position.
36
Return the dishwasher to its upright position.
37
Reposition the insulation as necessary.
38
Confirm that the end of the drain hose is accessible through the cabinet wall, then gently slide the dishwasher back into the cabinet.
39
Extend the front leveling legs if necessary.
40
Rethread the screws to secure the mounting brackets to the cabinet or countertop.
41
Detach the junction box from the support bar.
42
Feed the power line wires through the rear of the box.
43
Thread the strain relief nut to secure.
44
Realign the junction box on the support bar and slide right to snap it into position on the retaining tab.
45
Realign the black and white power wires on the appropriate terminals on the right side of the terminal block and thread the screws to secure.
46
Thread the screw to secure the grounding wire to the junction box.
47
Reposition the junction box cover and replace the screw.
48
Realign the insulation.
49
Now realign the toe panel and insulation, then reposition the access panel, and thread the two screws to secure.
50
Attach the drain hose to the sink drain or garbage disposer and secure with the clamp.
51
Confirm the hose is elevated above the connection point to help prevent water from flowing back into the dishwasher.
52
Reattach the water supply line to the water supply valve if necessary.
53
Turn the water supply back on, as well as the power, and the dishwasher should be ready for use.
