DescriptionThis video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing a door spring on GE dishwashers. The most common reason for replacing the springs is when one of them is broken, causing the door to fall open when unlatched. They should always be replaced in pairs, even if only one is broken, because they wear at the same rate.
All of the information in this spring replacement video is applicable to the following brands: GE, Hotpoint, Kenmore, RCA
Step-By-Step Instructions1
As with any repair, be sure to turn off the power supply to your dishwasher before beginning and confirm that the dishwasher door is closed and latched.

To replace a door spring, your first step is to remove the screws to release the lower access panels and set the panels aside.

If applicable, remove the screws to release the water inlet valve bracket to access the door spring.
