Estate Dryer has a burning smell

If your dryer smells like burning, start with the simple stuff first: excessive lint build-up in the lint filter or vent is the most common cause and can actually catch fire, so clean the lint trap and venting now and at least once a year. If the smell persists, a stretched, worn or frayed drive belt that’s slipping on the drum or idler is next most likely; check that the drum and idler pulley turn freely and replace a damaged belt. Less common but still possible is a shorted main control board or burned components on the control assembly, which can give off an electrical burning odor. Some models use a blower belt; if the blower or blower belt is stuck or slipping it will also produce a burning smell. Finally, a seized idler pulley or worn idler assembly that lets the belt slip will create heat and odor.
