Amana Microwave won't turn off

When an Amana microwave won't turn off, keeps running, or seems stuck on after you press Cancel or Off, start with the door switches. A failed primary, secondary, or monitor door switch can short and allow the fan or other functions to keep running, even when the door is opened. Test each switch for continuity with a multimeter and replace any switch that fails. If the switches test good, the user control and display board may not be registering the Cancel button. If some control panel buttons work but others do not, the touchpad and control panel or the separate membrane touchpad may be defective. A less common cause is a failed main control board with a shorted relay or triac, which can continue sending power after the microwave is turned off.
