Goldstar Microwave won't turn off

When a Goldstar microwave won't turn off, the most likely cause is a failed door switch. Microwaves use three or four interlock switches, including the primary, secondary, and monitor switches, to confirm the door position. A shorted door switch can keep the fan running even when the door is open. Test each switch for continuity with a multimeter and replace any switch that fails. Next, the user control and display board may have a faulty cancel or off button, especially if none of the control panel buttons respond correctly. If some buttons work but others do not, the touchpad and control panel or the touchpad itself may be defective. A less common cause is a shorted relay or triac on the main control board, which can continue sending power after you press Off. Unplug the microwave before testing or replacing parts. Any repair that requires opening the outer cabinet is hazardous because the high-voltage capacitor can store a lethal charge even after the microwave is unplugged and must be properly discharged.
