Amana Oven light not turning off

If your Amana oven light won't turn off, the light switch is the most likely cause. A shorted light switch can continue sending power to the oven light even when the door is closed or the switch is in the off position. Test the switch for continuity with a multimeter and replace it if it has continuity when it should be open. If the oven light stays on when you press the control button, the touchpad and control panel may not be registering the command. A faulty touchpad can cause the same oven light not turning off problem. If those parts test properly, a shorted control board may be supplying constant power to the light. Also check that the Amana oven door closes tightly. Bent door hinges can prevent the door switch from being activated, and a failed door switch can keep the oven light on. 01 - Amana Range/Stove/Oven Light Switch

The light switch sends power to the light. If the light switch is shorted the light will stay on. You can test the light switch for continuity with a multimeter. If the light switch shows continuity even in the off position, the switch is bad and will need to be replaced.

02 - Amana Range/Stove/Oven Touchpad and Control Panel

If the light is not turning off when the button is pressed, the button may not be activating. To determine if the touchpad and control panel are defective, try pressing each of the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons respond correctly while others don’t, replace the touchpad and control panel.
Common

03 - Amana Range/Stove/Oven Touchpad

If the light is not turning off when the button is pressed, the button may not be activating. To determine if the touchpad is defective, try pressing each of the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons respond correctly while others don’t, replace the touchpad.
Common

04 - Amana Range/Stove/Oven Control Board

The oven light often gets its power from the control board. If the control board is shorted the light can stay on. If the light switch is in the off position, but the light stays on, the control board has likely shorted and will need to be replaced.
Less Common

05 - Amana Range/Stove/Oven Door Hinge

If the door isn't closing properly the light switch may not be actuated, keeping the light on. Check to see that the door is closing tight. If the door opens past 90 degrees, the door hinges are likely bent and will need to be replaced.
Less Common

06 - Amana Range/Stove/Oven Door Switch

On some models, the door switch controls when the oven light is turned on and off. If the door switch has shorted the light may stay on. You can test the switch for continuity with a multimeter. If the switch shows continuity even in the off position, the switch has shorted and will need to be replaced.
Uncommon But Possible
