When your KitchenAid oven probe is not working, the most likely cause is a defective meat probe. The probe's resistance changes as its temperature changes, and an open circuit during a multimeter test means the probe is bad and needs replacement. A damaged or corroded probe jack, also called the receptacle, can prevent good contact and cause an oven probe error, so inspect and clean the connection before replacing it. If the probe and receptacle test good, the control board may not be reading the temperature signal. Some KitchenAid ovens also require the door to be fully closed for the meat thermometer to operate. A faulty door switch can fail to tell the control board that the door is shut, so test the switch for continuity when actuated and replace it if it fails. Depending on the model, the problem may involve the main control board or oven control board. Whether you are troubleshooting an oven probe not working, a temp probe not working, or a meat thermometer not working, enter your KitchenAid model number to find the exact replacement part for your oven.
01 - KitchenAid Range/Stove/Oven Meat Probe
The meat probe resistance changes with the temperature of the probe. If the probe shows an open circuit when tested with a multimeter, the probe is bad and will need to be replaced.

When the probe is plugged into the jack, the control board monitors the food temperature from the probe. If the temperature probe and jack are good but the control board is not responding, the control board is likely bad.
Some oven meat thermometers will not function properly unless the oven door is closed which activates a door switch to alert the control board that the door is closed. If the door switch is defective, the oven meat thermometer may not work. To determine if the switch is defective, use a multimeter to test it for electrical continuity when actuated. If the door switch does test appropriately for continuity, replace it.
The meat probe jack or receptacle needs to be clean and making good contact with the meat probe. If the receptacle appears corroded or damaged, the component should be replaced.
05 - KitchenAid Range/Stove/Oven Oven Control Board
When the probe is plugged into the jack, the oven control board monitors the food temperature from the probe. If the temperature probe and jack are good but the control board is not responding, the control board is likely bad.
