If your LG oven meat thermometer is not working, start with the meat probe, which is the most likely cause. The probe's resistance should change as its temperature changes, but an open circuit on a multimeter test indicates a failed probe that needs replacement. If the probe tests good, inspect the probe jack or receptacle for corrosion, damage, dirt, or poor contact. A damaged receptacle can prevent the oven from reading the probe correctly. Next, check the door switch. Some LG range, stove, and oven meat thermometers work only when the oven door is closed, so a defective door switch can interrupt the signal to the control. Test the switch for electrical continuity when actuated and replace it if it fails. If the probe, receptacle, and door switch are good, the control board or oven control board may not be responding to the probe. This can cause an oven probe error or make the meat thermometer appear dead. Enter your LG range, stove, or oven model number to find the exact replacement part for your appliance.
01 - LG Range/Stove/Oven Meat Probe
The meat probe resistance changes with the temperature of the probe. If the probe shows an open circuit when tested with a multimeter, the probe is bad and will need to be replaced.

When the probe is plugged into the jack, the control board monitors the food temperature from the probe. If the temperature probe and jack are good but the control board is not responding, the control board is likely bad.
Some oven meat thermometers will not function properly unless the oven door is closed which activates a door switch to alert the control board that the door is closed. If the door switch is defective, the oven meat thermometer may not work. To determine if the switch is defective, use a multimeter to test it for electrical continuity when actuated. If the door switch does test appropriately for continuity, replace it.
The meat probe jack or receptacle needs to be clean and making good contact with the meat probe. If the receptacle appears corroded or damaged, the component should be replaced.
When the probe is plugged into the jack, the oven control board monitors the food temperature from the probe. If the temperature probe and jack are good but the control board is not responding, the control board is likely bad.
