When your Caloric oven probe is not working, the most likely cause is a faulty meat probe. The probe's resistance changes as its temperature changes, and an open-circuit reading on a multimeter means the probe has failed and needs replacement. A damaged or unresponsive control board is the next likely cause, especially if the probe and probe jack test good but the oven does not display the temperature or shows a probe error. Less commonly, a defective door switch can prevent the oven thermometer from operating because some models require the door to be closed before the control board reads the probe. Test the switch for continuity while it is actuated. Also inspect the probe receptacle, or probe jack, for corrosion, damage, or poor contact, and replace it if necessary. These checks address common oven probe not working, meat thermometer not working, and temp probe not working problems. If the receptacle, probe, and door switch are good, the oven control board may be at fault. 01 - Caloric Range/Stove/Oven Meat Probe
The meat probe resistance changes with the temperature of the probe. If the probe shows an open circuit when tested with a multimeter, the probe is bad and will need to be replaced.

When the probe is plugged into the jack, the control board monitors the food temperature from the probe. If the temperature probe and jack are good but the control board is not responding, the control board is likely bad.
Some oven meat thermometers will not function properly unless the oven door is closed which activates a door switch to alert the control board that the door is closed. If the door switch is defective, the oven meat thermometer may not work. To determine if the switch is defective, use a multimeter to test it for electrical continuity when actuated. If the door switch does test appropriately for continuity, replace it.
The meat probe jack or receptacle needs to be clean and making good contact with the meat probe. If the receptacle appears corroded or damaged, the component should be replaced.
When the probe is plugged into the jack, the oven control board monitors the food temperature from the probe. If the temperature probe and jack are good but the control board is not responding, the control board is likely bad.
