Is your Sunray oven meat thermometer not working? The meat probe is the most likely cause. The probe's resistance changes as its temperature changes, and an open circuit during a multimeter test indicates the probe has failed and needs replacement. If the probe tests good, check the probe jack or receptacle for corrosion, damage, dirt, or poor contact. A faulty control board can also cause an oven probe not working problem because the board reads the probe's temperature through the jack. On some Sunray range, stove, and oven models, a door switch must signal that the oven door is closed before the meat thermometer will operate. Test the switch for continuity while it is actuated, and replace it if it does not respond correctly. Less commonly, the oven control board may have failed even when the probe and receptacle are good. Before ordering a meat probe, receptacle, door switch, or control board, enter your model number to find the exact replacement part for your specific Sunray range, stove, or oven.
01 - Sunray Range/Stove/Oven Meat Probe
The meat probe resistance changes with the temperature of the probe. If the probe shows an open circuit when tested with a multimeter, the probe is bad and will need to be replaced.

When the probe is plugged into the jack, the control board monitors the food temperature from the probe. If the temperature probe and jack are good but the control board is not responding, the control board is likely bad.
Some oven meat thermometers will not function properly unless the oven door is closed which activates a door switch to alert the control board that the door is closed. If the door switch is defective, the oven meat thermometer may not work. To determine if the switch is defective, use a multimeter to test it for electrical continuity when actuated. If the door switch does test appropriately for continuity, replace it.
The meat probe jack or receptacle needs to be clean and making good contact with the meat probe. If the receptacle appears corroded or damaged, the component should be replaced.
