When your range vent hood lights are not working, start with the light assembly or light bulb, since a burned-out bulb is the most common cause. Some range vent hood manufacturers sell the complete light assembly instead of the bulb separately. If your hood uses halogen lamps, one or more bulbs may have failed even if the damage is not visible, so test each lamp for continuity with a multimeter or replace the bulbs. If a new bulb does not restore the light, test the light socket for incoming power. A socket that has power but does not illuminate the bulb is defective and should be replaced. Next, check the light switch and push button switch for continuity. Replace either switch if it fails the test. Disconnect electrical power before testing or replacing range vent hood parts. Whether you need a range vent hood light bulb, halogen lamp, light socket, light switch, or push button switch, enter your model number to find the exact replacement part for your specific range vent hood.

If the vent hood light is burned out, replace it. Some manufacturers do not sell the light bulb as an individual part; instead, they require you to purchase the light assembly.

One or more of the halogen lamp bulbs may be burned out. Since it’s very difficult to visually determine if any of the halogen lamps have burned out, use a multimeter to test them for continuity. Alternatively, you can just try replacing the bulbs.
To determine if the light socket is defective, use a multimeter to test the incoming power to the socket. If the light socket has power, but the light bulb isn’t working, replace the light socket.
To determine if the light switch is defective, use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity. If the light switch does not have continuity, replace it.
To determine if the push button switch is defective, use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity. If the push button switch does not have continuity, replace it
