When your refrigerator is noisy or loud, or your fridge is making a loud noise, start with the most common causes first. Loose or obstructed fan blades are often to blame—the evaporator fan in the freezer and the condenser fan under the unit can rub or catch debris and make scraping or whirring sounds when the door opens, so check that the blades spin freely. Next, low house water pressure can make the water inlet valve squeal or chatter while filling the ice maker. A failing evaporator fan motor will also produce grinding or humming noises and usually needs replacement. The damper control that meters freezer air into the refrigerator can become noisy as it ages, and an unlevel refrigerator will vibrate or rattle on the floor. Finally, ice maker drive motors or motor modules can make loud cycling noises and may require replacing the ice maker assembly. If the refrigerator is noisy or loud, especially when one of the doors are opened, either the evaporator or condenser fan blade may be at fault. First, check out the evaporator fan blade in the freezer behind the back panel. Try turning it by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, check to see if the blade is rubbing against something or if something is caught in the blade. Additionally, check the condenser fan blade in the back underside of the refrigerator to determine if it has any obstructions.

The home may have insufficient water pressure. The water inlet valve supplies water to the ice maker and low water pressure may cause the inlet valve to squeal or chatter. You can check the water flow at the kitchen faucet to help determine if the home's water pressure is sufficient or not.
