Primer repair kit

Fuel cap assembly

Walbro primer bulb. The primer bulb draws additional fuel into the carburetor to make the engine easier to start. If the primer bulb is leaking, replace it.

Tecumseh carburetor bowl gasket. If this gasket is torn or damaged, the engine may run rough. Be sure to clean the surfaces around the carburetor gasket before installing it.

Briggs & Stratton recoil starter kit. The recoil starter engages the drive cup on the flywheel to start the engine. If the recoil starter is defective, the engine may not start.

Briggs & Stratton in-line fuel filter. The filter screen is on the large side of the housing. The port on the large side goes to the fuel tank while the port on the small side of the housing goes to the carburetor.

Carburetor Gasket and air guide

Nylon insert locking nut. Used as part of the shear bolt assembly, as well as other locations within the equipment.

Carburetor gasket

Kohler Original Equipment 52 050 02-S Pro Performance Oil Filter. For optimum performance, we recommend changing the oil in your small engine after the first five hours of use. After that, change the oil on a yearly basis or after every 50 hours of use (whichever comes first).

Briggs & Stratton starter gear (also called a pinion gear), 16-tooth, plastic. The starter gear engages the flyhweel to start the engine. If the teeth on the starter gear are worn out, the engine may not start.

Fuel tank grommet. Secures the fuel supply, return and vent lines to the fuel tank.

Drum, starter

Tecumseh fuel line clamp.

Small engine failures — hard starts, rough running, and complete shutdowns — almost always trace back to one of a handful of worn parts. Whether your, or engine powers a lawn mower, string trimmer, chainsaw, or generator, the fix is usually simple and inexpensive when you have the right OEM part.
The most common culprits are carburetors clogged by ethanol-damaged fuel, worn spark plugs, kinked fuel lines, and cracked primer bulbs. Many of these parts cost under $30, and replacing them yourself takes 15 minutes with basic hand tools. Always reference your engine's model number (stamped on the engine block itself, not the equipment model) to ensure exact fit — small engine parts vary significantly across manufacturers and displacement sizes.
Your equipment (mower, trimmer, generator) has its own model number, but the small engine inside has a separate one stamped directly on the engine block or shroud. Small engine parts are matched to the engine model number, not the equipment brand. A mower might have a engine, for example. Always look on the engine itself — you'll see "" or the manufacturer name plus a model and spec number. That's what you need for parts.
Ethanol-blended fuel breaks down and varnishes carburetors. The tiny fuel passages in the carb get clogged, and the engine won't start. The best fix is a carburetor rebuild kit (jets, float needle, gaskets) for $15 to $30, which takes 30 minutes to install. For next season, drain fuel from your equipment before storage or add a fuel stabilizer to keep the carb clean.
Aftermarket plugs often work, but OEM spark plugs (Champion, NGK, Autolite) are engineered for your engine's exact heat range and gap. Wrong heat range causes fouling or engine knock. For reliability, especially on newer engines, stick with the OEM spec listed in your manual.
Primer bulbs crack from UV exposure and age. They're cheap (under $5) and wear out faster than most parts. Keep a spare in your equipment bag so you're never stranded with a hard-starting engine. Replace immediately when you feel the bulb harden or see cracks.

At Repair Clinic, we offer an large inventory of small engine replacement parts and kits for DIY repairs, ensuring you have access to the parts you need. However, it's key to understand the functions of these parts before performing any maintenance on your equipment. Below, we've compiled a list of commonly purchased small engine repair parts available in our inventory, along with explanations of how they work. This knowledge will empower you to make informed decisions and effectively maintain your equipment.
Check the engine cover first for a model number label, then look near the muffler shield, on the cooling shroud, or on the valve cover if it is not there. Small engines can carry several numbers, so look for the one identified as the model, often printed beside the type or code information. Type it into our model number lookup and the catalog narrows to parts made for your unit. Using the complete model number filters the full Small Engine parts selection, not just one category, so you can review compatible parts with less manual comparison. It is the quickest way to be sure the part fits before you order.

Repair Clinic's online repair library is built to support Small Engine owners and technicians through every stage of the fix. Symptom-based articles narrow the likely cause, part testing videos verify the failing component, and step-by-step repair guides cover the installation with photos and video. Use the model number lookup to confirm the exact OEM part, and wiring diagrams back you up on the more technical steps.
