03:03

All of the information in this switch housing replacement video is applicable to the following brands: Whirlpool, Kenmore, Amana, Ikea, Maytag, Inglis

Tools used: multi-screwdriver

Step By Step Instructions

1
As with any repair, be sure to turn off the power to your dishwasher before beginning.
2
To make it easier to access the float switch housing, we recommend removing the outer door panel.
3
To do this, remove the screws from inside the door which secure the outer panel.
4
With the screws removed, pull the panel down then lift it up and out.
5
Now rotate the lower access panel fasteners counter-clockwise to remove then pull out the access panel and sound dampening pad.
6
Next, open the two float switch housing covers.
7
Disconnect the wire connecter from the switch and pull off the actuator.
8
Now push the float stem to the right to detach it from the housing.
9
Remove the screw securing the housing to the tank and pull out the old housing.
10
Prepare the new float switch housing for installation by transferring the float switch from the old housing to the new one.
11
Now align the housing on the tank and replace the screw to secure.
12
Open the dishwasher door and push the float down to realign the float stem in the housing.
13
Reposition the actuator.
14
Reconnect the wire connecter to the switch and snap the housing covers shut.
15
Reposition the lower access panel and sound dampening pad then secure the panel with the fasteners.
16
Reinstall the outer door panel by first aligning it on the door hinges then slide the panel up and reinstall the screws in the inner panel to secure.
17
You’re now ready to restore power to the dishwasher and confirm that it’s working properly.
