2
First, make sure the engine has cooled.
3
Next, you should remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine from accidentally starting.
4
Now, lift up the rear door and remove the grass bag.
5
Use channel lock pliers to grip the rear door hinge rod and strike the pliers with a hammer to push the rod through the rear axle housing.
6
Grab the end of the rod and pull it all the way out.
7
You can now remove the rest of the rear door assembly and detach the old torsion spring.
8
Install the new torsion spring by inserting it into the door.
9
With the new spring in place, reposition the rear door on the housing, making sure both springs are hooked on the edge.
10
Insert the hinge rod and use a hammer and a large flat-head screwdriver to fully seat it.
11
Lift up the rear door and position the grass bag assembly on the mower.
12
With the repair completed, reattach the wire and boot to the spark plug, and your lawnmower should be ready for use.
