Step By Step Instructions

Before you replace the oven safety valve in your range unplug the power cord

Shut off the gas supply.

Now open the oven door and remove the racks.

Lift the lower access panel up from the rear and slide it back to remove.

Unthread the mounting screw securing the burner tube.

Detach the tube and set it aside.

Use a phillips-head screwdriver to unthread the screws securing the lower rear access panel.

Remove the panel.

Depress the tabs to disconnect the safety valve wires.

Use an adjustable wrench to secure the valve and a 9/16th inch wrench to unthread the nut securing the gas line.

Next, unthread the mounting screws securing the valve to the rear panel.

Pull the old valve out and up to remove.

Install the new safety valve by inserting the orifice tube into the hole in the rear panel.

Align the gas line then insert the mounting tab into the slot.

Thread the gas line nut loosely.

Replace the mounting screws to secure the valve.

With the valve secured, tighten the gas line nut.

Connect the wires to the new valve.

Reposition the lower rear access panel and secure it with the screws.

Reposition the burner tube in the oven and replace the mounting screw to secure.

Replace the lower access panel by inserting the front edge under the oven door frame then push the rear of the panel into place.

Reinstall the oven racks.

Turn the gas supply back on.

To verify there is no gas leak apply a dish soap and water solution to the safety valve connection.

With the repair completed plug the power cord back in and your range should be ready for use.
