Step By Step Instructions

1
If the ice maker in the Samsung refrigerator keeps freezing up, you can install a Y-clip assembly to drain excess water into the drain trough.
2
To do this, you will need a Phillips head screwdriver and a large flat head screwdriver.
3
Before you begin the procedure, unplug the appliance's power cord.
4
Open the left side refrigerator door and pull out the ice bucket.
5
Using the Phillips head screwdriver, unthread the screw securing the ice wire harness cover.
6
With the screw unthreaded, you can pull the cover straight out to remove.
7
Depress the tabs to disconnect the icemaker wire harness connector.
8
Next, unthread the screws securing the lower ice maker cover.
9
Use the large flathead screwdriver to depress the retaining tab to release the cover.
10
Use the screwdriver to help detach the refrigerant tubing from the bottom of the ice maker.
11
Now, depress the retaining tab at the top and pull the ice maker assembly forward and down to remove.
12
This may require some effort.
13
To install the Y-clip assembly components, slide the bevel over the refrigerant tubing and push it into place over the polystyrene insulation.
14
Next, snap the two Y-clips onto the refrigerant tubing, one on each side, then push the clips back against the insulation.
15
Reposition the ice maker assembly in the housing so the refrigerant tubing feeds through the space between the ice maker tray and the hinged lower cover.
16
Then, align the slots on the housing mounting posts and push back until the assembly is fully seated.
17
Press the refrigerant tubing into place under the tray and close the cover.
18
Re-thread the screw to secure the cover, connect the icemaker wire harness connector, and secure all wiring behind the clips.
19
Realign the tabs on the wire harness cover with the slots in the ice maker housing and push the cover straight back.
20
Thread the screw to secure, replace the ice bucket, plug the power cord back in, and the refrigerator should be ready for use.
