Samsung Washer has a burning smell

When your Samsung washer has a burning smell, stop the cycle, unplug the machine, and inspect it before using it again. The most likely cause is a failed rotor and stator kit. In this direct-drive motor, wet stator coils or shorted coated wires can smell burnt or smoke; test the stator coils with a meter and replace the kit if damaged. A shorted main control board is the next likely cause, followed by a failed motor control board. Inspect both boards for burn marks caused by a power surge or failed component. A damaged control board can cause the same washing machine burning smell and should also be replaced if it is visibly burnt. If your washer smells like burning rubber, check the water pump belt for wear and slipping, then inspect the drive belt for fraying or friction. A seized water pump or idler pulley can make either belt overheat. Do not operate the washer if you see smoke, melted wiring, or severe damage.
