Tools used: multi-screwdriver, Phillips head bit, needle-nose pliers, pliers, wood block, clamps

Step By Step Instructions

1
As with any repair, be sure you unplug the appliance before beginning.
2
To replace the door boot seal on your washer, open the washer door
3
Use needle-nose pliers to help remove the retainer wire and spring from the seal.
4
Now pull the seal away from the lip of the front panel and fold it into the washer.
5
Next, use pliers to untwist the clamp securing the seal to the water inlet port and pull the seal free.
6
Use a two-by-four wood wedge to hold the tub back.
7
Then push down on the boot seal and pull forward to release the inner retainer spring and remove the old seal from the washer.
8
Prepare the new door boot seal for installation by applying some liquid dish soap or rinse aid to the seal’s inner groove.
9
With the pointed tab on the liner portion of the seal pointed upward, align the seal on the lip of the outer tub this will require some time and effort.
10
Once fully aligned, position the inner retainer spring in the seal groove to secure.
11
You can use spring clamps or the provided spacers to help hold the retainer spring in position at the top and sides of the outer tub as you position the spring along the bottom of the seal.
12
Because the clamps or spacers can easily become dislodged, you should use eye protection during this step.
13
With the inner retainer spring secured, carefully remove the clamps or spacers.
14
Pull out the wedge.
15
Now align the twist clamp on the seal, position the seal on the water inlet port and secure it with the clamp.
16
Now pull the seal forward and align the outer edge on the lip of the front panel.
17
Replace the outer retainer wire and spring to secure.
18
You’re now ready to plug the power cord back in and confirm that the washer works properly.
